We have a definite soft spot for Tenerife. It?s the largest and most popular of the Canary Islands, and attracts over four million visitors each year, with an increasing number of these enjoying golf holidays on Tenerife. Although it?s just off the north coast of Africa, it still has a very Spanish feel. The volcanic landscape is spectacular, but the weather is definitely the island?s biggest selling point. The island enjoys warm sunny winters and long hot summer days so our golf holidays in Tenerife can be enjoyed any time of the year.
Over the last few years the number and quality of the golf courses on Tenerife has greatly improved. The European Tour and European Ladies Tour are now making regular stops in the Canaries where the courses are very fair, not too long but may punish the wayward hitter.
Bill Goff hotels work in close co-operation with all of the golf courses on the island. We?ve stayed in every kind of accommodation on our Tenerife golf breaks, from self-catering apartments to luxury four-star hotels and had a great time everywhere we?ve been.
The island is dominated by Mount Teide, which is Spain?s highest peak and the centrepiece of a National Park. It towers above the island separating the cooler, greener north from the desert-like south. The beaches are a little unusual in that most of them are black volcanic sand while the sea is warm and beautifully clear.
Most of the golf courses and accommodation on our Tenerife golf holidays are featured around the bustling resorts of Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos.
Playa de Las Americas is situated in Adeje, a small town on the south western coast. Whenever we?re there we spend a lot of time relaxing on the beach or enjoying the wide range of water sports and other activities. If you are looking for the liveliest resort on the island, with a variety of nightlife, then base your Tenerife golf holiday here.
In recent years the Costa Adeje coast has undergone a major hotel redevelopment. They?re now all of a very high standard, which means there is a great deal of competition between hotels - and that has to be good news for customers. The golf is good too, with two championship golf courses at Costa Adeje and Golf Las Americas.
Los Cristianos is part of Arona, one of the most important tourist areas in the island. It?s a coastal fishing village, and it has managed to preserve some of its traditional nature, if you know where to look. We tend to choose Los Cristianos when we?re in the mood to see Tenerife?s sophisticated side. We?ve enjoyed some great times on our numerous Tenerife golf holidays in the resort?s selection of bars and restaurants and there are also some lovely pavement cafes around the harbour.
Tenerife golf breaks offer something very unique - let?s face it, there are not many places where you can play 18 holes in the morning, then relax on a beach, stroll through banana plantations or climb a volcano in the afternoon! Do yourself a favour and give our golf holidays in Tenerife a try ? you won?t be disappointed.
