Area Description
Most courses in the Algarve lie to the west of Faro, but in the Eastern
Algarve, near the Spanish border, we found an area that is very different,
both in terms of environment and golfing attractions. This area is an
excellent choice for golf breaks in Portugal.
Tavira is a much less touristy place and is part of one of Portugal’s
most important nature reserves. It’s quiet, has a rugged landscape
and a unique beauty that we loved. As a resort destination for golf breaks
in Portugal, it has emerged as a new alternative in the Algarve over
the last couple of years. The courses have been well thought out, and
a number of good hotels are now only a short distance from the airport.
We also like to take the trip just over the border into Spain. The
province of Huelva on the Costa de la Luz offers the chance to play some
great
golf courses on both sides of the border.
